Grow Separately

The sedem is bloomig. Green and non-descript for a seemingly endless time, it suddenly blossomee with pretty little delciate flowers. Individually they are so beautiful; as a group, they are so hardy.

Never Lose

Particularly poignant coming from Helen Keller. It's so true - especially with the people in your life. Little bits of them live inside you forever.

Set Him Free

I try to find a relevant or appropriate image for the quotes that I have collected. I've been searching for one for this Michelangelo quote for ages. There it was, just down the road from me - the angel struggling to get free.

Keep Moving

I was drawn to this old bicycle leaning up against an ancient stone house in Ireland. I love old bikes, stone houses and happy red geraniums in old black kettles. And I love Ireland!

Content

I love sheep - I find them tranquil and serene and peaceful . Some might counter: 'dull and thick and dumb.' CONTENT, I argue back ... as in the case of this old Irish sheep I met this spring.

Junk

Now, if I said that, I'd be labeled a pack rat or a hoarder or cheap or just a plain nut case. But coming from Thomas Edison, it definitely has more credibility. You've got to admire, respect and believe him.

Stones

Brings to mind a comment from a young man from Newfoundland, on the plane heading home. He was speaking about people from out west who perhaps were trying to come across as superior. 'Yeah, but they live on soft ground.', he said, dismissing them as if that in itself explained everything.

Seasons

The days are getting shorter and darkness is upon us sooner now.  The air has changed and I can smell autumn in the air already.  I do love summer, but I also love fall; and spring, and winter.

Richest

Well it would appear, according to Thoreau, that I am very wealthy. It's a well known fact that it doesn't take much to amuse or entertain me.

Compassion

That goes right along with the previous quote. Loving, gracious, thankful and compassionate.  How could one not be happy or make others happy as well, if all of those things were in place.

Gratitude

That holds a lot of truth for me personally. I find that it is when I have those feelings that there is a wonderful contentment and happiness.  Realistically though, as lovely as it is, it's not quite possible to live every single minute that way.

Great Spirits

This big ol' gull does certainly seem to be expressing profound opposition to something. While he makes his presence and his opinion well known, the adorable little puffins sit serenely and peaceful in the background. The gulls, as beautiful and interesting as they are, are commonplace and loud like mediocre minds, while the pretty little puffin is as elusive as truly great spirits.

Walking

These are the well travelled, ninety three year old feet of my dear aunt.  I think it is because she walks so much that she has gotten to be 93.  And she most definitely is still coming up with great thoughts.

The Sun

I love it when the sun sets RED.  The promise of a 'sailor's delight' is one reason.  The other, just because it's plain beautiful.

Rising

The sky was a delight this evening. I didn't have to go any further than my own backyard to capture its beauty. As always, one of my greatest joys.

Strong Souls

When I think of growing strong from the events of daily life, my mind goes to those before us who worked so hard to survive. A strong soul. I like the sounds of that.

Be Yourself

I love this quote from Oscar Wilde.  Straight forward and simple. And wise.

A Story

Always, my life and my art has been about the stories. I suppose that's why I keep putting my two cents into these postings when really, the photo could/should/would speak for itself. I am forever compelled to add my own story to it.

Thank You

I have often wondered about the folks who do not scribe to the belief of a higher power.  Who are they thankful to?  I find that it is in being Thankful that I am most alive.

Morning Moon

This morning moon in the early hours of a summer day was like a punctuation mark left from the previous evening.  It's a fine world. Period.

The Secret

Thank goodness for beginnings. Our life would be sad and sorrowful indeed if it was made up of mostly endings. Open any door and surely, behind it there will be another beginning in some way, shape or form.

Act More

There's an old house at the end of our road in Newfoundland, that I have been taking photos of for the past seven years.  I was so happy to find for the first time, that there was a way to get into it this past trip. I was acting more by discovering what was inside it, instead of always just contemplating its past.

Never Too Late

That's a hopeful thought. Every day is a brand new chance to work towards it. Something to reflect upon.

Aspires

I beleive that. Just the simple fact of always moving forward rather resting upon one's past, speaks to a person's character. I love to be around people with dreams and plans and aspirations.

Wings

I love the east coast seagulls. They are beautiful and graceful. The sea would be so quiet and lonely without them.

Endurance

The cross on this steeple is the epitome of endurance to me. It as been standing crooked on an abandoned church by the sea, for many, many years. The winds and weather have taken a toll, but it still hangs on.

Moving

This is my old house where I took the photo of the mattress springs in front of the window.  Moments later I captured this shot. It's not so lonely with movement still around it.

Kindness

It truly amazes me how fragile little flowers grow in the rock.  A gentle little splash of colour in the dullness of the gray; a soft place to cradle and hang on to a droplet of life's breath.  Much like an unexpected kindness in this world.

Protect Yourself

I'm hoping it means by being surrounded by support and love. I can't help but picture a gang of big bruisers lined up with someone cowering behind them. I suspect that's not the meaning of this particular proverb.
